We wish to congratulate Bwembya Chanda on his 4 under par win at the Zambia Amateur Closed. The 3 day tournament took place at a pristine Bonanza Golfcourse and attracted over 60 golfers competing for top honors!

The Zambia Amateur Closed is the 1st of 4 Majors scheduled to take place this golf calendar year and is the 1st zambian tournament to carry World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGS) points. All this only added to the expectations and the golfers did not disappoint as the played out three days of very exciting golf.

Other notable winners included Michael Chuma who missed out on top spot on 4 under, and Jaabir Patel who finished in 3rd place on 1 under. Speaking during the prize giving ceremony, the Zambia Golf Union (ZGU) Vice President South Mr. Mohammed Bhagoo congratulated Bonanza Golf Club and the sponsors for successfully holding the wonderful tournament. He congratulated all the players who took part and was pleased to see that junior golf development as a whole was headed in the right direction as evidenced by the results.

Mr. Bhagoo also took the opportunity to announce that ZGU was fulfilling its mandate to improve golf throughout the country and would be issuing mowing machines to selected golf clubs to assist them maintain their courses.
